Protection for Assault Units with VIK-2K Portable EW Systems
Active use of UAVs and drones in Russia’s war against Ukraine has accelerated development of new technologies in the field of electronic warfare (EW). Consumer drones such as the DJI Mavic have become one of the most common reconnaissance and strike tools on the front line. Mobile units are especially vulnerable when moving to positions or changing location — these moments leave them most exposed to detection and aerial attack. The response to this threat was the development of portable electronic warfare systems capable of accompanying assault teams directly in combat zones. VIK-2K is one such system, created with the real needs of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces in mind.
Key capabilities of the VIK-2K EW backpack
VIK-2K effectively neutralizes DJI Mavic-type drones by emitting strong jamming signals in two critical bands: 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz. A total output power of 100 W provides reliable suppression at ranges from 50 to 250 meters, depending on terrain and the adversary’s technical characteristics.
Mobility and convenience
One of VIK-2K’s main advantages is its compactness and versatility. The kit weighs about 10 kg with one battery, which makes it ideal for mobile units. The device is installed in a specially designed assault backpack with an aluminum frame that reliably protects the equipment from mechanical damage and adverse weather conditions.
The antenna can be used in three modes:
- Fixed to the backpack for operation on the move
- Handheld by the operator for quick aiming
- On a tripod for stationary deployment at a position
Power flexibility
VIK-2K supports three power options, providing maximum adaptability in the field:
- Internal battery (up to 2 hours of autonomous operation)
- External 220 V mains with simultaneous battery charging
- External DC sources 24–29 V, including FPV batteries
Quick battery replacement and a remote cable up to 6 meters long allow the operator to control the device remotely and place the electronics in a protected location.
Technical excellence
The system is equipped with a high-performance panel antenna with a high standing-wave performance factor to ensure maximum jamming efficiency. An active cooling system with built-in fans enables extended operation without risk of overheating.
The control unit with a charge indicator attaches to the backpack strap, providing quick access to system controls. High-quality N-Type connectors allow rapid replacement of the antenna or feeder even in field conditions without special tools.
The VIK-2K full kit
VIK-2K is supplied with everything needed for immediate deployment:
- Backpack with built-in electronics
- Directional dual-band antenna
- Control unit
- Two 28 V / 20 Ah lithium-ion batteries
- Tripod for stationary deployment
- 6-meter extension cable
- 220 V charger
- Pouch for an additional battery
- User manual
- Combat-proven
VIK-2K was developed at the request of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces and has already demonstrated its effectiveness in real combat conditions. This is not just a theoretical solution — it is a tool that protects the lives of our service members daily during the most demanding missions.
To date, the company Defika has received positive feedback from servicemen confirming that using such portable devices helps protect personnel from drone strikes at a distance.
Technical specifications of the VIK-2K EW system
