Defika’s Portable EW System VIK-2K Has Completed State Codification
We are pleased to announce that the VIK-2K portable electronic warfare (EW) system, developed by Defika, has successfully completed the codification procedure within the national system. This means that the device has received an official identification number, a confirmed technical classification, and can now be supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a standardized format. Codification confirms that the product fully meets established requirements, has verified characteristics, and is integrated into the state’s unified logistics system.
What is codification, and why is it important?
Codification is the process of assigning a unified number to a military product according to NATO international standards (NATO Codification System). For EW equipment, this is especially important because such devices are part of a complex electronic warfare infrastructure, where every component must have an accurate description, a standardized data format, and compatibility with rapid logistical processes.
Since portable electronic warfare systems are actively used on the battlefield, their specifications, compatibility, components, and functions must be officially recorded in the relevant database. This ensures transparent accounting, maintainability, and smooth integration into the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ system.
How does the codification process work?
Codification consists of several stages, each aimed at detailed verification and documentation of the product:
- Submission of the technical documentation package.
The manufacturer prepares a full description of the product: specifications, composition, purpose, operating principles, materials, operational limitations, etc. - Expert review and classification.
State specialists analyze the submitted data, determine the correct code according to the NATO Stock Number (NSN) standards, and compare the characteristics with international classification tables. - Entry into national and international databases.
Once the information is confirmed to be accurate, the product is officially registered in the catalog, making it available for government procurement and logistics operations. - Assignment of a unique codification number.
The NSN enables the military to easily identify the device, order it, maintain it, repair it, or integrate it into the technical infrastructure. - Issuance of an official codification notice.
The manufacturer receives documents confirming that the procedure has been completed and the code has been assigned.
The VIK-2K has successfully passed this entire process, demonstrating the maturity of the product and its compliance with military standards.
Benefits of codification for EW manufacturers and users
Key benefits for manufacturers:
- official inclusion of the product in government supply catalogs;
- eligibility to participate in large-scale defense procurements;
- legal and technical validation of the product;
- simplified logistics and service maintenance;
- increased trust in the brand in both Ukrainian and international markets.
Benefits for military units:
- guaranteed quality and compliance with standards;
- standardized technical documentation;
- transparency in procurement and a clear understanding of specifications;
- easy replacement and maintenance of components;
- better integration with other tactical EW systems.
Why do military units choose the VIK-2K?
The VIK-2K is a portable EW device in a backpack form factor, designed to provide rapid protection for units against enemy UAVs. Thanks to its compact size and autonomy, the system is suitable for assault teams, airborne units, reconnaissance units, and mobile groups.
The device effectively protects against drone-dropped munitions and can be used as an EW system against drones such as the DJI Mavic, suppressing control channels, telemetry, and navigation. This provides the soldier with personal UAV protection, reduces the risks of FPV attacks, and enhances the combat capability of a unit.
Passing the state codification process is an important milestone for Defika. It formally integrates the VIK-2K into the military logistics system and makes it eligible for systematic procurement. According to the conclusion of the state commission:
“Based on the review of the declared technical and tactical characteristics of the VIK-2K electronic warfare device, the test materials, and the technical documentation, it has been established that:
- the technical and tactical characteristics provided by the manufacturer are fully confirmed by the materials of preliminary and demonstration tests;
- the technical and tactical characteristics provided by the manufacturer comply with the requirements for a close-range electronic warfare system intended for the individual protection of personnel (backpack type).”
In modern warfare, portable EW systems play a crucial role in protecting and enhancing the operational effectiveness of military units. Solutions like VIK-2K strengthen the capabilities of Ukrainian forces and improve their safety on the front line.
